About the branch
Where the money goes
A straight answer, with the parts we do not yet know clearly marked as unknown.
The branch's half
Branch 370's share of every 50/50 draw supports our general branch operations, including hall maintenance, veterans' support programs administered by our Service Officer, and community events.
Raffle proceeds are separate from, and are never used as, Poppy Fund donations. The Poppy Fund exists solely to support Veterans and their families and is governed by strict national rules — see our Remembrance & Poppy Fund page.
In practice, that means
- The building. Heat, hydro, insurance, roof, furnace, kitchen equipment, the parking lot. A hall built for a bigger village costs the same to keep whether forty people or four hundred come through it.
- Community events. Meat draws, dinners, the room the Lions Club meets in, the room the Amateur Radio Club fills once a year.
- Veterans' support administered by our Service Officer, funded from branch general funds — distinct from, and additional to, the Poppy Trust Fund.
The one line we will not blur
Poppy Trust Funds must be held in trust at each branch and command level of the Legion. They may not be used as, or in place of, general or any other branch funds, and any use must focus on directly supporting Veterans and their families.
No raffle dollar enters that fund, and no Poppy dollar funds this raffle. We have built the separation into our accounts, our internal tooling and the design of this website.
What we are still confirming
Branch 370 is working toward confirming its charitable registration and licensing status. Details will be published here once confirmed.
- No CRA charitable registration was found for this branch. A lottery licence does not require one — eligibility rests on a demonstrated charitable mandate assessed by the licensing authority — and we are confirming the route with the Municipality of South Dundas and the AGCO.
- Our exact incorporated legal name is being confirmed with Ontario Command.
- Our founding year is not yet documented. When branch records confirm it, it goes on the Our Branch page and not before.
